When God Removes Your Ability to Control Everything

Devotional

One of the hardest things for the human heart is losing control. We naturally want certainty, predictability, and the ability to manage outcomes. We feel safer when we know exactly how things will unfold. But there are seasons when God allows situations that strip away our ability to control everything. Plans stop working. Answers become unclear. Outcomes move beyond our hands. And suddenly, we are forced to trust.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 14:28–31 — Peter walks on water Proverbs 16:9 — God directs our steps Jeremiah 17:7–8 — Trusting in the Lord

Refreshing for the Day

Control often gives the illusion of security, but faith grows strongest when we surrender what we cannot manage. Peter experienced this when he stepped out onto the water. As long as he trusted Jesus, he walked beyond human ability. The moment fear and self-awareness took over, he began to sink. God will sometimes remove control so dependence can deepen. Faith is not about controlling outcomes. It is about trusting God in uncertainty. The loss of control can become the beginning of deeper surrender. Stay Refreshed!
