When God Removes What Made You Feel Secure
Devotional
There are moments when God touches the very things that made us feel safe. It may be a job, a relationship, financial stability, a familiar environment, or a plan we trusted deeply. When those things begin to shake or disappear, fear can quickly rise because we realize how much security we placed in them. But God will sometimes remove temporary security to reveal eternal security. The rich young ruler in Scripture was confident in many things, but when Jesus touched the area he depended on most, his heart was exposed. What we lean on most often reveals where our trust truly rests.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 19:21–22 — The rich young ruler Psalm 46:1–2 — God our refuge and strength Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ the same forever
Refreshing for the Day
God is not trying to leave you vulnerable. He is teaching you where true security is found. Human systems can fail. People can change. Circumstances can shift. But God remains constant through every season. Sometimes the greatest freedom comes when God removes what you thought you could not live without—and then shows you that He has been sustaining you all along. God uses unstable things to lead us toward unshakable trust in Him. Stay Refreshed!
