Devotional
Consequently, beloved, having studied and understood the subject matter — “Finding God in unexpected journeys”, now let us explore steps to help us discover God’s presence in unexpected journeys? Finding God in unexpected journeys requires openness, awareness, and trust. Thus, the first step is openness to the unexpected. Be open to the idea that God can reveal Himself in surprising ways and through unexpected experiences (Proverbs 3:5-6). Approach each journey with a heart ready to receive divine encounters, even if they don’t match your preconceived notions.
Key Scripture
And he said, ‘Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.’ And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.1 Kings 19:11-12 (ESV)
Refreshing for the Day
Another step to discover God’s presence in unexpected journeys is “being aware of God’s presence”. Cultivate a heightened awareness of God’s presence in your surroundings. Pay attention to the people you meet, the places you visit, and the situations you encounter. God often speaks to us through the ordinary moments of life, so stay attentive to His subtle nudges and whispers (1 Kings 19:11-12). Stay Refreshed!
Note This
Being open to the unexpected and cultivating a heightened awareness allows us to discern God’s presence even in the ordinary moments of life.
Responsibility
So, beloved, let us approach each day with a sense of curiosity and anticipation, eager to discover the divine in the unexpected.
